What you need to know about play.

Play is natural for children but life-giving for everyone.

Play isn’t something that most adults value, but it is actually necessary for our mental health!

Play is our first and best opportunity to learn how to be weak and fail.

Play means we aren’t in “task mode,” but we can be fully in the moment.

Play is about enjoyment, not winning or accomplishing something.

Play helps us build joy!

Play bonds us together.

Play looks different for each individual but here are some examples.

  • Sports

  • Imaginative Play

  • Board Games

  • Dancing

  • Crazy youth group type games

  • Flying a kite

  • Piggy Back Rides

  • Floor time with a pet

The opposite of play is not work, it’s depression.
